From Lucy (the dog formerly known as Sonya)

I just wanted to check in with you to let you know that I am doing sooo good. My new home is great. It’s so big and comfy. I love laying in the bay window during the day to watch the people walking & running by. Sometimes they have dogs with them and I love to bark a greeting to them!

My bedroom also has a picture window and I spend a considerable amount of time here too watching the birds and squirrels in the back yard. I have to make sure they know that I’m queen of that yard! Sometimes I lay in the yard and watch over it. And other times I like to dig holes. My yard is my kingdom!
Can you believe just the other day, 2 ducks came in and were swimming on the pool cover? I had to look twice. I couldn’t believe they came into my backyard! I have never seen a duck before, I wanted to be friends but they flew off when I barked to them.

My new family is awesome. My mama takes me on long walks every day usually 3-4 miles. I love being outside so this is the best part of my day. I wait patiently by the door for her to get off work when I know its almost time for her to come home. Because as soon as she gets home from work, off we go! I’m always so excited to go for a walk. She lets me smell and sniff and even play with other dogs we run into.

My dad is cool too. He loves to play fetch with me and chase me through the house. He thinks he’s faster than me so I always have to show him that he’s not. He said he’s going to teach me to play frisbee this spring in the yard. I’m not sure what frisbee is but he sure makes it sound like fun.

I need to learn to come when being called but I love to run so much it takes over sometimes. Since I love to run, my mama said she’s going to start taking me to a doggie day camp once a week where I can run till my hearts content. I’m not sure what doggie day camp is yet but since I love to run, I’m sure it will be very fun! My mama said I’m going to get to go to classes too on how to be a better walker and answering her when my name is called. I’m very smart so I’m sure I’ll ace these classes. I really want her to be proud of me.

I’m still not sure I like riding in the car. But I’m hoping I get used too as I know my family wants to take me places. I had to go to the vet once already because I broke a nail and it was bleeding pretty bad. But Dr. Jackson fixed me right up and I was good as new.

I just wanted to say thank you for placing me with my new family. We are all doing well and I am so loved. I’m very grateful for my forever family.

So far things are going really well! Sonya has been very well-behaved, no potty accidents, and no destructive chewing. Sonya is a little anxious when they leave for short periods of time now & then, but she never destroys anything when they’re gone. She’s fully trusted free-roam on the main floor now, they just block off the basement and bedrooms. She loves to watch out the windows, or sneak a nap on the couch when they’re gone. <img decoding=” title=”Smile” />
Mom said Sonya really loves going for long walks, so they walk every day. The first day their long walk tired her right out, and she napped when they got home! Sonya really seems to enjoy her time outdoors, especially exploring in the back yard to watch the squirrels and sniff their tracks. She also loves to play fetch with Dad all the time, even with her rawhide roll! She won’t chew her rawhide at all, she only wants them to throw it for a game of fetch.

Overall Sonya seems to really be enjoying her new home routine, and is settling right in. Mom said they are really enjoying having her too!
