6-25-09 Izzy’s First Week at Home

Mom said Izzy is doing wonderful! Izzy is adjusting to the home very well, and hasn’t had any accidents so far. She is so smart that she comes to tell Mom & Dad when she wants to go outside! She is doing great with crate training, and enjoys her Kong Toy while she’s left alone for short periods of time. Izzy hasn’t been stressed at all; she has been very comfortable easing into their routine at home.

Izzy and their current dog, Reggie, are getting along very well…. they LOVE to run around and chase each other outside in their fenced yard. Inside the home, they both seem to enjoy relaxing in different areas of house, Izzy’s favorite spot being by the big window in living room (to watch the squirrels & birds).

One funny story – when Reggie was younger, he would get into hampers & pull out socks to drag around the house; well within the first week, Izzy also knocked over hampers, and she chose to drag out underwear to spread around the house! Mom thought it was hilarious, because Izzy seems to sort through and pick it out carefully, one by one, and leave a trail of underwear along the hall to the stairs. One day, Mom caught Izzy in the act, and although it makes Mom laugh, Mom calmly told her “Nope, Leave It”…. and Izzy is SO smart that she hasn’t done it since! She listens really well to every command they give her.

Mom raved about how Izzy is so amazing, so smart, and so cute with all the hilarious things she does. Izzy still loves to roll in smelly stuff in the yard, and both dogs have received several baths lately to clean up the stink! Izzy always seems to know where to find the spot, even after they clean up whatever is in the grass. It’s hilarious!

Izzy has not been nervous or shy this week, which is wonderful. Baths are not her favorite, and she hides when the lawn mower is running, but other than that she is doing very well socially. She also loves her walks with her new sister Reggie, and doesn’t pull on leash at all. They are looking forward to enrolling her in Obedience Classes in the Fall.

Overall, Mom says that they all just LOVE her to death, and are so happy to have her! Everyone that meets her falls in love with her too. <img decoding=” title=”Smile” />
