Mackenzie's Yappy Hour is BACK for the summer and is now officially DOG FRIENDLY!!!

Come join us EVERY SUNDAY starting June 6th at HOP CAT from 1:00 - 4:00pm for a fun afternoon of socializing and fellowship with other dog lovers.

Yappy Hour proceeds will help Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary, the largest no-kill sanctuary in the Midwest dedicated to finding homes for abused, abandoned and neglected dogs.

Mackenzie's Mission:

  • Spay/neuter our rescue dogs of age to stop the cycle of unwanted litters.
  • Assist in public education for the betterment of our local animal community.

Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary is seeking to add another creative and spirited individual to the Mack Pack. We are excited to announce the available full-time position of Fundraising Coordinator. Located just 35 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary (MAS) is the largest no-kill dog Sanctuary in the Midwest and is dedicated to finding homes for abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs. MAS was founded by the Azzar family in August of 1999 after the passing of their beloved family dog, Mackenzie. MAS is federally recognized as a 501©(3) non-profit organization funded solely by private donations and does not receive any state, local or federal funding.

The Fundraising Coordinator will:

  • Manage all advertising campaigns
  • Manage and negotiate all media buys for quarterly advertising campaigns
  • Coordinate all forms of PR including TV, print and radio interviews
  • Plan and execute fundraising events throughout the year
  • Lead Mackenzie's efforts to maintain relationships with and raise funds from individual donors, corporations, and community service clubs
  • Work towards diversifying income sources
  • Maintain and expand Mackenzie's major donor base
  • Write donor appeals and other correspondence
  • Maintain Mackenzie's on-line giving programs (including firstgiving, sponsor a dog, etc),
  • Coordinate Mackenzie's annual principal fundraising events
  • Assist with oversight and/or support of the website and social media content
  • Maintain marketing materials including brochures, donation box inserts, posters, flyers, banners, print work, etc.
  • Manage MAS branded merchandise

MAS's Fundraising Coordinator should possess work experience within the nonprofit sector and a proven record of securing donations to be most effective. Additionally, experience with overseeing event planning and logistics would be an asset.
